Description
TAPER LOCK PULLEY Cast Iron for V-Belt application
SPB125/2-2012 refers to a Taperlock pulley of the SPB type. Specifically, it’s an 125mm diameter pulley, with a single groove, designed for use with a Taperlock bush (2012). The “SPB” indicates the V-belt section it’s designed for. The “2” signifies it has one groove for a single V-belt.
SPB refers to a specific profile of V-belt, characterized by its dimensions (16.3mm top width, 13mm thick) and used in various industrial applications
Here’s a breakdown:
- SPB: Refers to the V-belt section the pulley is designed for. This is a standard size for power transmission.
- 125: Indicates the pulley’s nominal diameter in millimeters.
- 2: Denotes the number of grooves (or slots) on the pulley for the V-belt.
- 2012: Refers to the Taperlock bush size that fits this pulley. Taperlock bushes allow for easy mounting and removal of the pulley onto a shaft. Wedge V-belts – Suits these pulley’s
Wedge-type v-belts are for limited space applications. Fewer belts are needed to transmit the load due to a higher power rating. These belts operate at 1.5 – 2 times the load of standard v-belts with the same top width. Wedge v-belts have an included angle of 40 degrees (see Figure 2) and a top to width ratio of approximately 1.2:1. They have better steel cord placement and construction, thereby providing the highest strength while in motion. The common designations for Wedge v-belts are SPZ, SPA, SPC, and SPB, as seen in Table 2.

Designation | Top width (mm) | Height (mm) | Recommended minimum pulley pitch diameter (mm) |
SPZ | 9.7 | 8 | 63 |
SPA | 12.7 | 10 | 90 |
SPB | 17 | 13 | 140 |
SPC | 22 | 18 | 224 |
